These are great frugal recipes collected from all over. Check this page often, as I will be adding more recipes all the time!
Appetizer Recipes:
Cheese Balls
1 lb. shredded cheddar
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
8 oz. cream cheese
½ cp. nuts, chopped
1 cp. mayonnaise
strawberry preserves
Mix all together except nuts and preserves. Shape into ball. Leave middle open, cover with nuts. Pour strawberry preserves into hole. Serve with ritz crackers.
Hamburger Dip
1 lb. ground beef
16 oz. jar taco sauce
16 oz. velveeta
Brown ground beef. Melt velveeta in ground beef and add taco sauce.
Main dish recipes:
Hamburger Stew
2 lb. ground beef
5 lg. potatoes, cubed
1 c. onion, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1 bell pepper, chopped
3 beef bouillon cubes
Brown ground beef. Do not drain. Add onions, pepper and potatoes. Add water as needed and bouillon cubes. Simmer until vegetables are tender. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with cornbread or crackers.
Chicken Casserole
6 cps chicken, cooked and chopped
16 oz. sour cream
2 cans cream of chicken soup
2 cps crushed ritz crackers
1/2 stick butter
Mix chicken, soup, and sour cream. Butter bottom of large casserole dish. Sprinkle bottom of dish with 1/2 of the crackers. Pour chicken mixture in dish. Bake at 325 for 20 mins. Sprinkle rest of crackers on top. Bake about 15 more minutes, until bubbly.
Tater Tot Casserole
1 1/2 lb ground beef
1 med onion, minced
1 can cream of chicken or celery
1 sm pack frozen tater tots
Pat uncooked ground beef into pan. Sprinkle onion on top and smooth undiluted soup over all. Layer tater tots on top and bake at 350 for 1 to 1 1/2 hours.
Dessert recipes:
Dump Cake 1 can cherry pie filling 1 can crushed pineapple 1 box yellow cake mix 2 sticks butter Grease 9x13 pan. Dump cherries and pineapple in pan. Mix together cake mix and spread evenly over top. Cut up butter in small squares and spread evenly over top. Bake 350 for 45 minutes. Pea Pickin’ Cake 1 box yellow cake mix 1 can mandarin oranges 4 eggs 1/2 cp oil Frosting: 1 lg can crushed pineapple 1 box instant vanilla pudding 1 cp cool whip Put all ingredients in bowl and mix well. Pour into four 9 inch cake pans and bake at 325 for 20 minutes. Combine pineapple with juice and pudding mix, mix well. Add cool whip. Spread between layers and refrigerate. Holiday Fudge 1 pkg. ( 8 squares) semi-sweet chocolate 1 tsp. vanilla 2/3 cp. sweetened condensed milk 1/8 tsp. salt ½ cp. chopped nuts Microwave chocolate and milk 2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute. Stir until chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla, salt, and nuts. Spread in greased 8x12 or 9x5 loaf pan. Refrigerate until firm. Strawberry Delight 1 angel food cake 8 oz. cream cheese 2 pts. fresh strawberries 1 lg. container cool whip Cut strawberries up in bowl. Blend cream cheese and cool whip. Break up cake into small pieces. Layer cake, then cool whip mixture, then strawberries. Keep layering until all is used. Lemon Cheesecake 8 oz. cream cheese 1 pkg. instant lemon pudding 2 cps. milk 8 inch graham cracker crust Soften cream cheese, blend with ½ cp milk. Add remaining milk and the pudding mix. Beat slowly about 1 minute. Pour into crust. Chill at least 1 hour.
